The Cabrini women’s lacrosse team used a dominant second half performance to pull away from the visiting Widener University Pride Thursday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field, as the Cavaliers outscored the Pride 10-3 after the break en route to a 19-8 victory.
The Blue and White evened its record at 2-2, while handing Widener its first loss in four outings.
Sophomore Sasha Wozniak (Spring-Ford) recorded her second consecutive six point game, to lead eight Cabrini goal scorers. The sophomore paired five goals and an assist to go with two caused turnovers. Junior Jess Breuning (St. Hubert) made her presence felt over the entire surface of the pitch, recording three goals, an assist, nine ground balls, a career high eight draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Fellow junior Jenn Robinson (St. Hubert) added two goals, two assists and four ground balls, while freshman Emma Rodner-Tims (Bishop Shanahan), sophomore Jackie Neary (Kingsway, NJ) and juniors Katie Lasater (Great Valley) and Allie Vallen (Maple Shade, NJ) notched two goals each. Sophomore Gabby Lee (Academy Park) also notched a goal and recorded career highs of four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Junior goaltender Megan Barlow (Academy Park) recorded 10 saves to earn the victory.
Morgan Scott (Cinnaminson, NJ) and Kelsey Powell (Washington Township, NJ) each scored twice for Widener (3-1).
Haverford College 18, Eastern 6
The Fords delivered a convincing win against Eastern at Swan Field. At times, Haverford made it look easy and finished with an 18-6 advantage.
Scoring was mostly spread out as six different Haverford players netted multiple goals in the contest. Sophomore Molly Lausten and freshman Sarah Svetec (Manheim Township) led the way with three goals apiece. Lausten now has a team-high 16 goals and has scored at least once in every game this season. For Svetec, her goals marked the first three of her career.
Julia Haggan had three goals and an assist for Eastern.
Division II
Chestnut Hill College 21, University of DC 5
The Griffins were led by a trio of five-point scorers in junior midfielder Rachel Perry (Boyertown), junior midfielder Jacklyn O’Leary, and sophomore attack Julia Galantich.
